The big publisher Supersonic from Unity has posted an insightful case study (link in the comments) on its recently released Hybridcasual game, “Trash Tycoon Idle Empire”. ♻️👷

Idle Tycoon is one of the game genres closest to Hypercasual.

Despite the depth of the narrative, its clicker mechanics are very accessible. 👆

Not by chance, several Hypercasual publishers have released Tycoon titles.

And now, in the Age of Hybridcasual, Tycoon has moved onto the development roadmap of the big publishers.

“Trash Tycoon Idle Empire” is developed by Funcell Games .

Funcell is a prominent studio with a portfolio of games with more than 300MM downloads. 🤯

They developed big hits such as “Idle 9 Months” (46MM) and “Dog Life Simulator!” (34MM). 👏

According to NextBigGames , life simulators are one of Funcell’s core specialties.

With more than 40 employees (according to their LinkedIn page), the Indian developer 🇮🇳 has extensive publishing experience with top references in the market, such as Homa, Crazy Labs, Kwalee, BoomHits, and…

Supersonic. 😉

“Trash Tycoon” is not their first partnership.

Together, they released big hits such as “Perfect Lie” (30MM) and “Hyper Hostess” (10MM).

With “Trash Tycoon”, Supersonic and Funcell take another solid step towards Hybridcasual. 💪

And the partnership looks promising. 🤝

With the daily support of the Supersonic team, Funcell has implemented improvements to the game.

Instead of using delayed gratification (a common strategy in monetizing idle simulators), the teams decided to offer constant progression by small upgrades, increasing engagement. 😍

Using a dedicated task force and an AI consultancy, they rebalanced the game’s economy, finding innovative pressure points for monetization. 💰

Last but not least, the Supersonic and Funcell teams polished the UX of the game, tweaking the tutorial, interface, store, etc.
