Forming Ads, Creatives, Marketing Messages for Mobile Games

What's your take on forming Ads, Creatives, and Marketing Messages for mobile games you operate + what are the channels/mediums you go for? Is it more leaning on e.g., Creative research + repeating what others do and using the same formula on it, with e.g., simple things like 5-6 different types/formats/messages per standard channels and just adding and removing things based on performance, or leaning something beyond it? Overall the above definitely works as a formula. It works really well if there is really check-marks on both marketability and product. In terms of beyond it, mostly what I'm after knowing is how much companies explore further basic things to formulate messages, such as: - Understanding and communicating product USPs, value props., and competitive advantages - Understanding demographics combined with audience data and insights on archetypes, motivations, and psychology And go […]

Turkey Blocks Discord

After access to Instagram, Twitch, KICK, OnlyFans, and Roblox was restricted—though many were later reinstated—Turkey also blocked access to Discord today. Twitch has over 5 million monthly active users (MAU) in Turkey, and it's likely that a large portion of these users are also active on Discord, as it’s common for viewers to join streamers' Discord servers to engage more deeply. A New Day, A New Ban Yes, it's another eventful day in the world of digital platforms in Turkey! According to BTK’s latest statement, a court ruling in Ankara has blocked access to the popular messaging platform Discord. The reason? Allegations that criminals were using it for malicious purposes… But here’s the thing: Discord is not just a chat app. It’s a platform that helps young people explore the tech world, and it's heavily utilized for business, education, and […]

Interesting approach in ‘Unpuzzle’ by HYPERCELL

I came across an interesting approach in 'Unpuzzle' by HYPERCELL. They’ve placed the Level Race event behind an RV (Rewarded Video) placement, meaning players need to watch an ad to unlock the event. 🏆🎥I’ve seen RV placements for rewards and boosts, but it’s the first time I’ve seen a game event itself gated this way. It’s a creative way to integrate ads while keeping players engaged and curious to participate. Really smart and definitely stands out! What do you think about gating events behind RVs—genius or too much?#MobileGaming #GameDesign #Monetization #Unpuzzle #PlayerEngagement

LEGO & Fortnite

Fortnite collaborates with so many IPs that it’s easy to forget the game itself is a powerful IP 🧱the LEGO Group just launched a new line of physical playsets based on Fortnite, and I absolutely love this move! While exploring UEFN and getting blown away by the LEGO Fortnite regime, I overlooked the potential of Fortnite becoming a part of the LEGO universe—not just the other way around. 🏰Back in April 2022, KIRKBI (owners of LEGO) invested $2B in Epic Games. With that level of investment, it was only a matter of time before we saw deeper integration between the two brands. And LEGO isn’t the only major partner. Earlier this year, Disney invested $1.5B in Epic Games. 💰Given the epic (🙃) results we’ve already seen from the LEGO collab, I’m excited to see where Epic could go with Disney—especially considering […]

ReelShort by Crazy Maple Studio scaled to more than $1 Mil. a day 🤑 with around 200K downloads a day. Is it an App? Is it a game? It's a money-printing machine 😅. This story is one of the craziest games we covered this year, redefining the whole interactive story genre to its base. Get the full rundown here 😎ReelShort "App" is in the Film & TV streaming category with contenders such as Disney+, HBO or Netflix. By hiding its gaming nature it is much more approachable and mainstream. The overall UI as seen in the images really looks like a streaming app, but don't be fooled 😵, beneath the polished exterior lies the tried and tested interactive story game, that has took its monetization to the next level. By the use of soft currency in interactive choices, clever ad […]

10 Gaming Creative Takeaways: NOT Working

Here are the top 10 gaming creative takeaways on what’s NOT working based on many GamePlan diagnostics we did for publishers of all sizes: 1. Gameplay mechanic not recognizable in a fraction of a second. 2. Too much repetition in visual execution. 3. Content that is too generic or too niche. 4. Stock footage. 5. Trying to say too much. 6. Visual clutter (such as unnecessary UI elements). 7. Everything is too small (made on a large screen, viewed on a tiny mobile). 8. Not isolating variables when testing creatives = no learning. 9. Doing only basic ad iterations. 10. Not utilizing affordable 3D hooks.
