Supercell Supports Offroad Games in High-Speed Studio Launch
Buckle up: a crew of Space Ape veterans just launched Offroad Games, a brand-new London studio with one mission—drive car games into the future with full-throttle energy. Even better? They’re not doing it alone.
In a bold move to keep beloved games alive and thriving, Supercell and Offroad Games have joined forces, handing over the keys to Chrome Valley Customs, Fastlane: Road to Revenge, and the long-dormant Go Race: Superkarts. This partnership protects jobs, powers up innovation, and fuels growth across London’s buzzing dev scene.
At the wheel is Geoffrey Gilles, Offroad’s CEO and former GM of Chrome Valley Customs and original game lead on Beatstar. Backed by a team of ten (and growing), Offroad is already profitable and running at full speed, with no outside funding and no time to waste.
“Offroad is buzzing with gallons of nitro energy! In just 3 months, we’ve gone from 0 to 200 mph—and there’s no hitting the brakes,” says Gilles. “Our mission is to give Chrome Valley Customs a bold rebirth. If not, we’ve got 10+ years of lessons from Space Ape and a treasure trove of car-themed assets to build the next big thing.”
Beyond reviving classics, Offroad is already deep in R&D—taking a page from Homa Games’ playbook, starting hypercasual and scaling up to hybridcasual hits. It’s an approach driven by Offroad’s values: camaraderie, speed, and free-thinking creativity.
This all follows Supercell’s full acquisition of Space Ape in late 2024, a turning point that led to staff departures and the birth of breakout studios like Offroad and NextBeat. For Gilles, it was the perfect moment to step off the main road and build something daring.
