I didn’t.LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® METHOD is used in Samsung, IKEA, Microsoft, etc. There is even an official certification for that!A part of that is a Duck challenge. Participants are given 6 pieces (on the photo) and their task is to create a duck within a short period.Seems easy? Yes! But you didn’t expect how different ducks can be. If you are working in a team it can be a challenge to agree with your teammates about the vision 🤝Thanks, Giorgio Giussani for this amazing gift and for sharing about this practice. He holds workshops as well, all credits to Giorgio! ❤️Did you know about the Duck Challenge? Or a SERIOUS PLAY?P.S. All ducks […]

Offline Games – No Wifi: The Most Profitable Game!

Offline Games - No Wifi Games: the most profitable game 🤑(sorry, Scopely, it's not Monopoly GO) in the world, making $550K/day in ads, no UA 👇 The game really delivers what it says it does. You can play all of the games offline. It has already crossed 100 Mil. downloads with no UA! We couldn't even find any creatives or UA channels. This is a brilliant masterpiece of ASO & SEO strategy with proper link building that connects Jindoblu website and the YouTube channel - well actually two YouTube channels with MILLIONS of views. The game also cross-promotes the other similar portfolio games—two-player games and Antistress. Let's not forget ASO here, since this game is ranking in the No.1 position for a lot of "offline games" related keywords in the US and other countries. Truly a great case study of […]

Challenges in Mobile Gaming Investment

Before diving into this week’s piece, I wanted to ask if you know anyone considering starting a startup. If so, please encourage them to contact me on LinkedIn or submit a pitch through our website. We’re eager to connect with gaming and consumer startup founders. 🫶Here’s this week’s piece.I recently saw a LinkedIn post from Miska Katkoff, in which he shared an insightful timeline chart by Eric Kress. The chart, copied and pasted below, details the mobile games industry's YOY growth in the past ten years, highlighting revenue trends and the significant impact of Apple’s IDFA changes. This, combined with a conversation I had with a US entrepreneur about VC investments in mobile gaming, inspired me to share my perspective on why mobile gaming has become a challenging space for investors. Let's discuss why mobile gaming studios have become so uninvestable […]

Let’s talk about mobile game marketing

Part 4: Now let's talk about mobile game marketing These are going to be based on very anecdotal data from talks with different market leaders in Europe and sprinkled with personal opinion. Take them with a grain of salt.Challenge me on them, so we all learn. 1. The difference between which are the top iOS UA networks and the top Android networks is increasing. Networks that you wouldn't see on the top 5 of one being top 2 on the other. Not naming names, but DM me and I can provide what I've been seeing. The key point here being that ever since the IDFA deprication it was different, but never this much. It might be that learnings from Android don't translate to iOS as much anymore - which would make me wonder: how are you doing creative tests on […]

Build game monetisation around skins and customization?

How to build game monetization around skins and customization? The most basic tips. 🎀✨This is not a rare occurrence when game developers try to stand out (especially in f2p) and build games around selling visuals and vanity stuff. Is it possible? Definitely. Is it possible to achieve success by copying the "homework" from the most successful projects? Most unlikely. 1. 🖨️Avoid copy-pasting from other games. What worked 10 years ago for big hits will most probably not work now. 2. 🌎 The project should be quite popular, it should be a hit in terms of audience. People don't need to buy new vanity items every day, also it will be meaningless to charge high prices for such content because it will be demotivating for the players.3. 🎆Vanity & customization content should be amazing and interesting (as possible) for the audience. S.O.S I Need A Coach!

I hit a wallBack in 2019, I vividly recall feeling overwhelmed and for the first time in my career, helpless at work. I was building one of the first casual studios at Voodoo. I was putting a lot of pressure on myself to succeed, prove myself, and build the Dream Team that would take us to the moon. Then, Covid-19 hit, and nothing was going according to plan. Still, management expected us to deliver our first title within 24 months. The clock was ticking. Before receiving coaching or therapy, I believed I didn't need any help. I prided myself on strength and self-reliance—if I had a problem, I would solve it on my own. Therapy and coaching were only for “others”. But deep down, this overconfidence masked a fear of confronting my weaknesses and blind spots. I was reluctant to admit […]

Never been harder to launch a new game

When I started, the focus was on Casual games and IAP. Things like rewarded videos and interstitial ads weren’t as established as they are now. Back then, the strategy was to optimize for paying users - you accepted that 95% of your players wouldn’t spend any money, and it was the other 5% who essentially covered your user acquisition costs and generated profit. That was the golden age of “whales” and targeting before things like ATT and IDFA deprecation rewrote the rulebook. Then came new ad formats that let us monetize non-paying users, which played a big role in the rise of Hyper Casual games. It’s funny because now I see some companies going back to practices from 2015 or 2016, refocusing on quality over quantity. IPM is no longer the main metric of success, and we can see this […]
