My 2025 Product trends for Mobile Games Predictions

Here are my 2025 Product trends for Mobile Games predictions 😎 you can watch/listen to the whole episode on our channel 😁 or read the TLDR bellow 😅 🔷 Adapting proven Steam games into MobileLast year we saw great success of the Supermarket 🛒 simulator games adapted by Game District and many others and this trend will continue. Another example is the adaptation of the Backpack Hero mechanic. 50/50 there is gonna be a mobile version of Helldivers 2. F2P version of Balatro is a done deal for sure (The mobile premium version makes $100K a day 🤑). I guess 5 teams are on this already. Palword-like monster fighting and collection mechanics are already seen in China. It will be probably Q2 when they hit the western mobile market. 🔷 Casual Genres DisruptionBecause the traditional puzzle match 3 🧩 market […]

Dark and Darker by Krafton

Dark and Darker mobile ⚔️ published by Krafton Inc. is on its way to launch in the first half of 2025. We couldn't wait, so we reviewed the PC version of the game and looked at the different monetization models that the mobile game will probably have. The game got taken down from Steam and after a victory in lawsuit over Nexon's copyright claim in January 2024 it is back on Steam from June 2024. The PC version relaunched as a free to play game with a very unique model, reminiscent of Path of Exile "pay for convenience". As you see in the image, by being free to play you can only enter the Normal dungeons, have 1 character slot and can't sell items on the marketplace. After a $30 purchase the game basically goes from demo mode into full […]

Solitaire genre is getting super hot!

The Solitaire genre is gonna get super hot 🔥 this year 😁. There are 4 high profile games already in the soft launch phase. Who is gonna win this race? The Solitaire category is currently completely dominated by Playtika's Solitaire Grand Harvest making $15 Mil. a month. So who are the challengers? King's Candy Crush Solitaire has been in soft launch for a long time bringing the big IP with him. Metacore is getting out of their merge comfort zone bringing their Grandma into the genre. Wooga is using their perfected metagame from June's journey, swapping the hidden object core for solitaire. And lastly SuperPlay is applying their winning metagame formula from Domino dreams, where they already conquered that genre, to solitaire with a Disney IP.What is the kicker here? The last two games studios are actually owned by Playtika […]

Path of Exile 2 did some very smart decisions

Path of Exile 2 did some very smart decisions 💡 during their Early Access launch. I finally got to the endgame, so we have a full review for you, explaining their unique "convenience" based monetization and content distribution 😎. As seen on the image, the team heavily focused on the endgame part of the game instead of early campaign. Rather than developing a long and costly campaign, they actually developed only 3 acts and then recycled them with a higher "cruel" difficulty. This enabled them to shift the capacity of the team towards endgame, where players will spend most of their time ⌛ anyway, instead of the 25 hour long campaign, which you will never interact with after reaching the end of it. This is a completely opposite strategy to Diablo 4, which had a very well polished campaign with […]

Soft-launch Sonar #7

Soft-launch Sonar #7 📡 is back with 15 brand new soft launched games with no particular filter 😅. There are games from a lot of big players in the market such as Metacore, Supercent, Rollic, Voodoo, Homa, Century Games, FunPlus, tap4fun, Joynet Games. Come check out what we caught this time 😎. Metacore is innovating the merge genre, with level-based merge boards and also entering the Solitaire race with their Grandpa 👵. It is gonna be a heated category where multiple big names such as King, Wooga, SuperPlay are gonna battle over it next year. On top of it, Rollic is also entering the merge genre with Barbie IP. Continuing the casual board games trend, Voodoo is gonna chase its "Domino Dreams" 😅 Also Hexa sort core is being iterated by Homa in a coin-style fashion. Century Games is continuing […]

Blossom Sort by Zeromaze scaled to $60K a day

Blossom Sort by Zeromaze scaled to $60K a day with only 20K downloads per day 😅. This unconventional take on the sort puzzle is packing more than 1 trick up its sleeve. Read the full rundown here 😎: Instead of the usual sorting mechanic, like water puzzles or Colorwood, where you can move pieces only on the same color pieces, here you can freely move flowers 🌺 around the pots even though they will be put near a flower that is a different type. Breaking this major sorting rule gives the game a much more relaxing feeling and also solves one of the fail state problems. As fail state here is is either done by running out of time ⏳ or running out of space to move flowers. Even though the game runs a lot of ads, it still monetizes […]

History of Match 3

The combined lifetime revenue of the big Match 3 games is $24 Bil. 🤑 and 5 Bil. downloads 🤯 on mobile. We covered the 13 years long evolution in our most longest and comprehensive episode yet 😎 looking at the top grossing games in the current charts. The overall trend of the market suggest it is an elite club as during the last 3 years there are no new games with critical scale as Laura pointed out. Space Ape Games's Chrome Valley Customs, released in 2023, being the most successful one with $40 Mil. lifetime revenue. To get a comparison, Dream Games's Royal Match was doing $20. Mil. a month 1 year after release, currently $120 Mil. per month 😅 and even King's Candy Crush is still making $80 Mil. a month, being a 13 years old game 👵. Having […]

NO NOT, it is again another, ehm, ..., read the rest here 😅 The game starts as Idol Master, and you as CEO manage a company of girls that produce music 🎵, have different abilities to increase the sales of the music itself and it is all nicely wrapped around the Idle generation mechanic, where dollars per second is the main progression of the game. Girls are given through gacha, there is a tour mechanic, which gates the upgrades, and the idle timer mechanic as you sell the new songs. And EVERYTHING is done with AI - the characters, the videos, the creatives, the "animations" 😱 . So what's next? […]

Dark War Survival by Rivergame scaled to $300K a Day

Dark War Survival by Rivergame already scaled to $300K a day 🤑 with 120K downloads a day. This is one of the craziest stories in 4X this year 😱 Get the latest here from the 4X war that rages on in the market at the top of the charts ⚔️. This is the same team that did Last War Survival (Also Top War & Top Heroes). As you see in the screenshots, not even icons were changed 😅. The key iteration here is that the Last War team took their game and put a Century Games's Whiteout Survival (their biggest rival) onboarding onto it 😵. No more gate mechanics but a shelter like idler in the FTUE with a walking dead survival theme. There is an emotional story, there is the auto-combat minigame, even with Survivor. io style input and […]

Archero 2 global launched last week: 5th iteration

Archero 2 by Habby global launched last week and with it, the 5th iteration 😁 of the passive power progression side system. This has been iterated over 5 years from the days of Archero 1(2019). Capybara GO and Survivor.io have a more complex version of this system unlocked much later, but Archero 2 simplified it and put it into the early game, replacing the infinite "upgrade" button. Now the button is even called "gacha" 😅 as the whole thing feels like a collectible album with various rarities. In the end it is just a much more randomized and high production visualisation of the passive power 💪 progression system. It is very intriguing to see these different iterations done within the same studio and genre, launched very close to each other. Will Archero 2 compete with Capybara GO? I can't wait to […]

Pokémon TCG Pocket Past $60M

Pokémon TCG Pocket is already past $60 Mil. 🤑 2 weeks from its launch, with a stable 700K downloads per day. Developed by DeNA (The Pokémon Company International) this is your childhood nostalgia done right! Ready why 😎: The rules of the original TCG were heavily streamlined and adapted for mobile 📱, but still offer enough depth to form a healthy metagame of diverse decks. As they will add more and more mechanics through later expansions, this will just get better. And speaking about those, this is one of the main strengths of this game, as it is already running 3 events currently and the leaked Live ops pipeline is super packed, with Black Friday, mini expansion before Christmas and full new expansion by the end of January. The content treadmill won't stop anytime soon it seems 😎. The biggest […]
