As we gear up for G-STAR 2024, the largest gaming exhibition in Korea, excitement is building around the major game developers who are unveiling their highly anticipated titles. This year’s G-STAR, set to take place from November 14 to 17 at the BEXCO Convention Center in Busan, promises to be the biggest yet, with 3,281 booths—101% larger than last year. With global gaming powerhouses like Nexon, Netmarble, and Krafton showcasing their latest innovations, here’s a sneak peek at what to expect.
Nexon, the event’s main sponsor, is expected to draw significant attention with its lineup, though details remain under wraps until the upcoming “Nexon Media Day” on October 30. Speculation is rife that titles like First Berserker: Kazan, which was teased at Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show, will headline the booth. With 300 booths dedicated to their upcoming releases, the buzz around Nexon is palpable.
Netmarble is preparing to unveil two new titles at G-STAR: Game of Thrones: Kingsroad and MonGIL: Star Dive. Kingsroad, based on the hit TV series Game of Thrones, brings an open-world RPG experience set in Westeros. Attendees can expect to dive into an original story during the event. Meanwhile, MonGIL: Star Dive, a successor to the beloved mobile RPG Monster Taming, features action-packed gameplay developed using Unreal Engine 5. G-STAR visitors will get hands-on experience with nine different characters in the game’s story mode.
Krafton, which is on track to reach KRW 1 trillion (USD 723 million) profit this year, will introduce three highly anticipated games. inZOI is an immersive life simulation game, that delivers realistic graphics and complex storytelling where players face unpredictable life scenarios. Dinkum Mobile, based on the successful PC game developed by indie creator James Bendon, transports players into a vast open world for endless adventures. Krafton’s booth will also debut Project Ark, a 5v5 top-down shooter. Additionally, Krafton’s social responsibility initiative, BetterGround, will present a unique game created by high school students mentored by Krafton’s developers.
Pearl Abyss is expected to showcase its much-anticipated open-world action adventure, Crimson Desert, at G-STAR 2024. After impressing audiences at Gamescom 2024 with its hands-on demo, fans are eager for more. Set in the harsh world of Pywell, the game follows mercenaries fighting for survival. With a global launch planned for PC and consoles, Crimson Desert is shaping up to be one of the biggest titles on display.
Making their first solo appearance, Lionheart Studios is set to steal the show with their action-packed Valhalla Survival. This hack-and-slash, roguelike game combines high-speed combat with easy-to-learn mechanics, allowing players to fend off waves of enemies using flashy skills. Lionheart will also unveil three new projects—Project C, Project Q, and Project S—offering attendees a first look at these exciting titles.
The second exhibition hall will hostHYBE IM’s Dungeon Stalkers, a game that blends extraction gameplay with dungeon exploration, drawing comparisons to their Gamescom release. HYBE IM is also expected to introduce Architect: Land of Exile, a AAA MMORPG with seamless world exploration and real-time combat. Other big names, like Webzen and Gravity, have yet to announce their full lineups but are expected to reveal several new titles, particularly those tied to the Ragnarok IP.
As G-STAR celebrates its 20th anniversary, this year’s event represents not only a milestone but also a glimpse into the future of Korean gaming. Be ready for groundbreaking demos, exclusive content, and the latest from both industry giants and rising indie stars.
