What I found interesting in the wonderful world of Gaming #006
🎮 Has Apple Arcade finally found its niche?
I recently took a dive into Apple Arcade after not touching it for quite some time and to my delight I found a few absolute corkers I’d previously played on Steam such as Slay the Spire, Vampire Survivors, Dead Cells, and with Monster Train coming soon it got me thinking… what if Apple Arcade could work with Steam developers to bring their games to the platform, I’m sure the extra revenue stream wouldn’t hurt. Then I stumbled on the amazing FANTASIAN effectively a PC&C title (think Octopath Traveler It was produced and written by Hironobu Sakaguchi of Final Fantasy fame). Perhaps this is how Apple Arcade will become dominant on IOS by capturing the hearts of Steam players.
I’ve been saying for a long time that business has won out over passion projects, gaming has historically been about passion incredible people wanting to create something others find joy in playing. It seems this is true across the board with WB now opening up for studios to use their fantastic IP. I guess after seeing the incredible success Hasbro have achieved, passion projects are the way forward. https://lnkd.in/e3UA8ZgW
🎮 What happened with the BorderLands movie?
With the insane success of Mario, Sonic, The last of us and of course Fallout, I was thinking Borderlands was a dead certainty to do amazingly especially with the all star cast they threw at it. Will this make studio execs think twice about gaming IP or is it just extremely bad timing releasing along side Deadpool & Wolverine? https://lnkd.in/e3zsSs3c
🕹 An amazing story next “Hi-Fi Rush” IP and TangoGameworks have been purchased by Krafton from XBOX. I’m over the moon as it means we may yet see Hi-Fi Rush 2! https://lnkd.in/etCt_RTh
