Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO) and leading Arabic mobile games publisher Tamatem Games are teaming up to take Abu Dhabi’s gaming sector to new heights.
Following recent successful partnerships, such as with gaming titan Ubisoft, ADIO is now supporting Tamatem Games in relocating its headquarters to Abu Dhabi, marking a significant milestone in the Emirate’s gaming journey.
Tamatem: Game Global, Play Local
Tamatem Games specializes in delivering culturally relevant and localized games to the Arabic gaming community, boasting a diverse portfolio with over 50 games and 150 million downloads.
With ADIO’s support, Tamatem aims to create a gaming center of excellence in Abu Dhabi, contributing to the region’s growing gaming hub. This mirrors Abu Dhabi’s vision of becoming a global tech and design destination, with a focus on gaming.
Growing Beyond MENA
Hussam Hammo, CEO of Tamatem Games, expressed excitement about the partnership. He cited Abu Dhabi’s dynamic ecosystem and commitment to talent development as key factors driving the company’s growth and innovation agenda.
Tamatem Games raised $2.5 million in a Series A in 2018, followed by a $3.5 million later on. Its latest funding includes over $17 million in a Series B, with $11 million led by KRAFTON, valuing Tamatem at around $80 million.
With MENA gaming revenues expected to hit $6 billion by 2027, and rapid growth predicted in key markets such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, Abu Dhabi’s gaming scene is poised for a renaissance. ADIO and industry leaders like Tamatem Games are driving this collaborative effort.
